The Shawl Design

While this shawl will be a mystery, I will share a basic overview of the shape and construction:

  • The shawl will start at the tip and grow upwards into a triangular shape.

  • The cable grows organically from the bottom.

  • The shawl will finish with a small edging across the top and a larger, picked-up border all around the edges.

I am in love with this shawl, but I may be biased. However, Eimear who is running the test knit did give a little gasp when she saw the first photos!

MKAL Customer Reviews

" I joined the Quilted Feather MKAL last year - my first KAL, let alone MKAL. If I had seen the pattern before I joined, I would have thought it was beyond my skills. Instead, I learned loads & still look at it and think wow - I knit that!"

-Orla, Quilted Feather Shawl MKAL 2022

"Very enjoyable pattern and stunning result. The shawl MKAL will now be on my yearly calendar."

-Kelly S., Grianchloch Shawl MKAL, 2024

" This was my first MKAL. Love this shawl! Beautifully written pattern, and such clear instructions, made it hard to mess up. Love the double garter stitch. I order yarn from Stolen Stitches. The Nua yarn and the faery wings yarn are so soft and squishy just yummy to knit with! I just added tassels to mine. I couldn't love it more! Thank you for the brilliant design!

-Maureen, Siog Stripes Shawl MKAL 2020

Meet your Teacher

Carol Feller trained initially as a textile artist and then as a structural engineer. While both of these backgrounds are very different the influences can be seen in her design work which is well-shaped, flattering to wear and enjoyable to knit.

She strives to design clothing with a difference: not overly complex, but still giving a very unique end product. She likes to work with different construction methods, so long as they enhance the knitting experience and make for a more intuitively put-together knitted item.

Carol has been widely published in books and magazine and travels the world teaching in yarn shops and fibre festivals. The classes she teaches cover a wide range of subjects from cables and chart reading, through garment shaping and customisation right through to short rows and colourwork. In her classes you'll move from learning the basics to refining your knitting skills and fixing problems.
