The Seascair Blanket

Some knitters find blankets overwhelming, but here we create fabric blocks with cables, textured stitches and bias knitting to make a large project more manageable.

This also gives you the added bonus to learn different techniques with each fabric block! We will also work on seaming, and a 3 needle bind off to join these fabric blocks into the final blanket.

You can let your personality shine with your choice of colour for joining the squares. You could opt for a more subtle colour option or even one colour for the vertical and another for the horizontal if you wish. It's time to have fun with the final steps and make this blanket your own.

The Seascair Cushion
This uses the same mitred garter square as the blanket, but you pick up stitches around the edge to create the outer edging. This allows you to modify the size of the cover to suit the cushion you wish to cover. Finally, it finishes with a contrast colour using a 3-needle I-Cord Bind-Off. It really looks just like piping!

Carol trained initially as a textile artist and then as a structural engineer. While both of these backgrounds are very different the influences can be seen in her design work which is well-shaped, flattering to wear and enjoyable to knit.

She strives to design clothing with a difference: not overly complex, but still giving a very unique end product. She likes to work with different construction methods, so long as they enhance the knitting experience and make for a more intuitively put-together knitted item.

Carol has been widely published in books and magazine and travels the world teaching in yarn shops and fibre festivals. The classes she teaches cover a wide range of subjects from cables and chart reading, through garment shaping and customisation right through to short rows and colourwork. In her classes you'll move from learning the basics to refining your knitting skills and fixing problems.
